Welcome to Year 6
Welcome to Year 6.
The Year 6 teachers are Miss McSteen in class 6McS, Miss Bruen in class 6B.
Children will also work alongside Mrs Walker and Miss Hobin, our teaching assistants, who provide some individual and small group support for pupils.
Year 6 is a busy year dedicated to supporting and preparing pupils to work to the very best of their abilities.
There are a number of opportunities to take on roles of responsibility around the school, including Head boy and Head girl, Deputy Head boy, Deputy Head girl, library assistants, play leaders and school prefects.
The Autumn term begins with our annual residential trip to Winmarleigh Hall in Lancashire, which is surrounded by 50 acres of woodlands and gardens. Children experience a variety of thrilling activities which encourages team building and raises their self-confidence, self-esteem and motivation. During this trip many pupils and staff overcome their fear of heights. After the trip, Year 6 present an assembly for their families to attend, where they share campfire songs and photographs of their adventures and achievements!
Year 6 children are taught to be prepared, organised and responsible, which plays an important part in getting ready for their transition to High School. Whilst Year 6 is hard work, at the end of the year we are all very proud of our achievements.
We are looking forward to an exciting and busy year ahead!
