There is no automatic transfer from nursery to reception and you MUST complete a local authority application form online. This form will be available on the Liverpool.gov.uk site:

You must also provide evidence of your child's faith to the school office NO LATER THAN

15th January 2024.

 

For Baptised Catholic children, proof of Baptism in the form of a Baptismal Certificate is required. This should be brought directly to the school office before the 15th January 2024. A receipt will be given for all certificates/ supplementary forms. Baptism should take place before the closing date for applications (15th January 2023).

For children of other faiths supplementary faith form or letter from Mosque/ Temple of Faith confirming child’s religion should be brought directly to the school office before the 15th January 2024.

In the event of any over-subscription in the number of applications made St John’s will rank the children based on St John’s Catholic Primary School Oversubscription Criteria (click here).

If your child is due to start Reception in 2024:

You can apply for a Reception place from the 1st of September 2024.

The closing date for Reception Admissions is the 15th of January 2024

How does this work?

Once you have created an online applications account, you can apply for up to three schools for Primary Reception class.

St John’s Catholic Primary School also ask you to provide evidence of your child's faith. This must be brought directly to the school office – Baptism Certificate/ Supplementary Faith Form. You must bring this form to school no later than 15th January 2024. This form can be downloaded by clicking here or collected from the school office.

Step 1

Find the schools you are interested in.

Read the relevant policies for each school.

If the school has supplementary forms download them, if available. Some other schools (mainly faith schools and some academies) require you to send additional forms directly to them (Baptism Certificate/ Letter from Mosque/ Temple of Faith confirming child’s religion).

Step 2

Register and apply online.

Complete and send any supplementary forms (Baptism Certificate/ Letter from Mosque/ Temple of Faith confirming child’s religion ) directly to the school.

Accepting a Reception Place – September 2024:

If you are accepting your allocated Reception place for September 2024, please bring your offer letter (sent to you by Liverpool City Council) to school indicating that you wish to accept your place at St John’s Catholic Primary School within 10 school days from 17th April 2024, advising that you intend to accept your place.

You will also need to provide proof of address and proof of identity.

(Examples of Proof of identity documents – Birth Certificate, Passport, Utility Bill, Letter from Local or Central Government).

Declining a Reception Place – September 2024:

If you have been allocated a Reception place for September 2024 at St John’s Catholic Primary School and no longer require your allocated place please bring your offer letter (sent to you by Liverpool City Council) to school indicating that you wish to decline your place at St John’s Catholic Primary School within 10 school days from 17th April 2024.

You must submit your Reception Appeal as soon as possible and all admissions appeals must be lodged by the 15th of May 2024.
