Year 5 Bikeablilty Training
Dear Year 5 Parent / Guardian, |
We are excited to be working with BikeRight to offer Bikeability Level 1/2 combined. |
What is Bikeability? |
Bikeability is the national cycle training programme that helps children develop the skills and confidence to ride safely and independently. |
Participation and consent |
This cycle training will be provided to all children in year 5 as part of the school programme. |
If you do not wish your child to take part, you must inform the school by Monday 5th of October. |
If we do not hear from you by this date, we will assume that you consent to your child participating in Bikeability cycle training. |
Training content and supervision |
The training is delivered by qualified instructors and is tailored to pupils' abilities. Activities are supervised at all times and may include:
Medical and SEND information |
The school will share relevant medical and SEND information with the instructors. Parents and guardians are asked to inform the school in advance if there is any additional information that instructors should be aware of, so that reasonable adjustments can be made where required. |
Bikes and equipment |
BikeRight will provide cycles and helmets for all courses, to ensure that no child misses out. If your child can bring in their own bike and helmet, they are encouraged to do so provided they are the right size and in a roadworthy condition. |
If your child would benefit from access to an adapted cycle, please let school know as soon as possible to ensure we can organise a suitable cycle for them. |
Your child can still take part if they cannot cycle independently. Please just let the school know so that pupils can be grouped by ability and the instructors will do their best to accommodate all skill levels. |
