St John's Day Nursery

Hello and welcome to St John’s Day Nursery.

About us:

St John’s Day Nursery is based within Fountains Children’s Centre, and we provide childcare for children aged 2 years and over.

We form part of St John’s Catholic Primary School’s Early Years Team and work very closely with school to ensure the transition between our two settings is seamless.

We strive to keep our families well-informed of the activities running from day to day within the Day Nursery and Children’s Centre as well as the ways in which you can support us in the community.

We hope you will find this information useful in informing you about some of the key elements of nursery life.

Funding Information:

There are several types of funding available to enable children to access educational settings such as ourselves, some are means tested (2 year funding) and some are universal (NEF Funding). All children are entitled to 15 hours education per week from the term after their 3rd birthday (January, April or September) however there is an additional set of funding which entitles some parents to 30 hours instead of the universal 15 hours.

Working parents can also get help towards their childcare costs through the Government Tax Free Childcare scheme. If you would like further information on this please visit www.chilcarechoices.gov.uk

Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s school readiness and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. The activities the children take part in throughout their day at nursery are planned for by your child’s ‘key person’ from the children’s own interests, but our Early Years Practitioners also introduce different concepts to them through adult led activities.

In partnership with our parents and carers, we aim to provide a happy, healthy, safe, and stimulating environment for our children, and through play we will encourage your child to develop and learn.

We will provide the opportunity for your child to learn about different cultures, religions, and diets, as we celebrate various festivals throughout the year.

We will encourage your child to respect all people as individuals and aim to ensure equality of opportunity for all.
