Rainforest Roadshow 2015

Year 5 recently got to experience what life is like in the rainforest when The Rainforest Roadshow visited St John’s. We had an extremely fun and educational day with Dave who led the session. The day began with a question and answer session where we had the opportunity to look at photos from Dave’s rainforest adventures. Throughout the morning session, Dave also introduced us to some of his rainforest creatures. We had an opportunity to hold a praying mantis, millipede and some stick insects.

We also had lots of fun looking at various artefacts which Dave had collected over the years from his rainforest journeys, some of which we got to try on.

During the afternoon session, we had the chance to make tribal necklaces and bracelets which we thoroughly enjoyed. This was followed by tribal face painting, where we learnt how the tribes use Rea seeds to make colouring for the paint. The afternoon was concluded with a sketch work session where we made sketches of various rainforest creatures such as butterflies and insects.

We had an amazing day which made our Geography topic of South America come alive.
