Potty About Pottery

As part of our Ancient Greek topic we made Greek amphora vases. This was a long process but it was worth it in the end. We worked with a partner to make them and we had lots of fun along the way.  In our History lessons we had looked at pottery from ancient Greece and how they depicted images of sport and war. To make the vases we covered balloons in mod rock to create the structure of the vase and when they had dried we painted them in traditional colours and designs from ancient times. Have a look and see how we got on.

It was messy work but good fun making our Amphora

Everyone worked very hard.

An Amphora takes shape.

Next it was time to make the spout.

Spout finished, and after some drying, time to start painting.

After all that hard work a finished Amphora.
